2月13日 You are invited! It's been a long ,cold, windy winter! Not to mention the ice storm. It really has felt great to sit by my wood stove and spend the day on weaving baskets. And now the time is almost here! It's time for KENTUCKY CRAFTED:THE MARKET. Can''t wait to see and talk with all my old friends and make lots of new friends too. Be sure to stop at booth 425 and say HI! The Market takes place in the South Wing at the Kentucky State Fair Grounds in Louisville, Ky. If you will go to the website (just Google Kentucky Crafted:The Market) you can get a $3.00 off coupon plus all the time and dates. I've woven 50 plus baskets this winter just to take to The Market. It has been a real challenge but also very joyful and helped me get rid of the winter "Blues".
One more little tid bit. Our family will be growing on Feb. 24. We are adding another Min PIn to our family. Madison (our 3 year old Min Pin) is now going to have someone to play with besides us old folks. The new Min Pin's name is Milton. He is all of twelve weeks old and full of energy. Madison is a black and red Min Pin and Milton is a red. Promise to post some photos of both before long.
Well, must go finish packing for the show. Still have brochures to fold and a million small things to do. Shall post my upcoming shows after The Market. Ya all come see me-don't forget booth 425!

Then have a small show the end of April and another in Bowling Green in May for Kentucky Guild of Artist's and Craftsmen. Plus am being blessed with commision's for my baksets. Have been adding new colors to baskets (everyone LOVES red). And also am using colors in my thread choices. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? The Artisan's Center in Berea, Ky. will be having a special show that will run from Feb.-June titled Kentucky Basket Makers-The Tall and Short of it. They have invited me to be in the show! What a special honor. Am working like crazy on a basket just for that show. Will keep everyone posted on my progress and might even take a few picture's and put them up as the basket takes shape. It is still "telling" me what it wants to do . So please watch as the work goes along.
Well better go put some wood in the stove. The temp is really starting to fall. Just took Madison (my little dog) out for her evening "to do" and can really feel the cold. Madison hates the cold and snow. She walks like a little hog on ice! Even tho my teeth are chattering I have to laugh at her antic's!
You all take care and stay safe and warm. 12月11日 A Warm Day !!! The new pictures under the title, maybe for sale are brand new. Just put them up a few minutes ago. If you are interested in buying one (or all of them!) just drop me and e-mail for the price. It's not too late to do priority shipping for old Santa Claus.
They make great gifts-you can always be sure that the person you give one to will not get another like it. No two are ever alike!
HUNTER'S -attention!!! Your wife would love to have a antler basket made from a deer you harvested! I do commissioned pieces for hunter's all the time. The price ranges from $40-$95.00 just depending on size of the antler. Have made so many wives happy doidng this! They are tired of the walls being covered with head mounts or antlers but they sure do like to have a beautiful basket for the coffee table!
Time to go fix supper! Maybe even grill out !! Have a great week.
The Kentucky Basketweaver, Lynn 11月28日 Gourd Cleaning Day Good Morning! Well, I have put it off as long as I could. Managed to get a bunch of gourds cleaned yesterday so will spend today cutting to shape and getting the insides cleaned and painted. Also will get the holes punched for the coiling. When that is done then I paint the inside and decide how I am going to finish the outside. Usually I like to leave the outside in a natural state (or will enhance with Shoe polish, good old Kiwi Brown) . Looks like today I will have to go to plan B as the skins on 4 of the gourds are really not very pretty. Am thinking about using Gilder's Paste on them. It gives a rich , soft patina of color to the gourd without being too overbearing.
When people ask me how long it takes to make one of my baskets I can't really tell them. The preparation to making pine needle basketry is 75% of the entire time. But when it's all prepared I go to my "specila place" and time stops as I listen to what the basket says it wants to be! Yes, I'm a crazy artist but the baskets really do tell me what they want to be. Plus I like to listen to music as I weave so that also dictates to some degree what the basket turns out like. Learned to not listen to Tom Jones singing "Why, Why, Delilah. Man , that was one wacked out basket! But the lady that bought it loves it and the story that goes with it.
If you buy one of my baskets there is usually some story that goes with it. So be sure and ask and I will give you a note to go with basket. Like the lady I purchased some huge deer antlers from. She had gotten a divorce (her words, got rid of my husband) and know was getting rid of his antlers!!!! Dont' know about her husband, but the antlers were really beautiful. That was a win , win for us gals!
Better get busy. Have a blessed day! Lynn
